The popularity of Microsoft Teams and Zoom has sparked interest in a new generation of conference room technology. Logitech, Crestron, Bose, Yealink, Poly, and others offer a growing number of systems that all have different performance characteristics. Our design application calculates performance of a system based on the room specifications provided. A simple approach to a complex design process.
You can also compare performance of external microphone array systems for larger spaces from Shure, Sennheiser, Yamaha, and Audio Technica.
Step 1 - Enter the room dimensions, set table size and select the farthest distance people would be from the display.
Step 2 - Select a video bar.
The calculator includes models from Biamp, Bose, Cisco, Crestron, Jabra, Logitech, Neat, Poly, Yealink. Additional manufacturers and models are added on a regular basis.
Acoustic Performance
The calculator uses room dimensions and surfaces to calculate the acoustical performance of the room. The Critical Distance is a combination of acoustics and the performance of the selected system.
An acoustic modeling page is available to improve accuracy and to evaluate acoustic treatment options.
Each video bar selection uses an internal microphone system to cover the room. The STI rating is a speech intelligibility calculation of the internal microphone in the modeled room. The calculator also provides confirmation ("OK") that the speakers in the bar are adequate for the room. A quantity of external ceiling speakers is also provided as an option for larger room designs.
The calculator uses specifications from each manufacturer to estimate individual framing. Field of View (FoV) should be considered with furniture and seating configurations.
The print button will generate a system performance report for all criteria.
This page permits the customization of surfaces to increase the accuracy of the audio calculations. This page may also be used for modeling acoustic treatment options or to consider different surfaces during the room design phase.
